Culminating at 2,066 meters, Mount Aorai, meaning "Kingdom of the Sky," is the most popular among hikers and trail runners.
Its ascent is completed in several stages, passing through different viewpoints overlooking the island's interior and the neighboring ridges and peaks.
/!\ You should not be afraid of heights, because the passages on the ridge are narrow, with a void on each side /!\
Favorite option <3 : Night hike!
- Departure between 11:00 p.m. and midnight (depending on weather conditions).
- Ascent with headlamps, a 5- to 7-hour hike.
- Sunrise at the summit of Mount Aorai - breakfast (tea/coffee/biscuits).
- Daytime descent, facing the sea, with views of Moorea, Papeete, and Mahina.
> End of the day - between 10 to 13 hours hike.
*Hiking Mount Aorai under the stars makes a more comfortable hike than during the day, when the heat and humidity strain the muscles and increase the risk of abandonment.
The trail is well-marked and wild, with some rope crossings on slippery sections.
