Description
Tahitian Odyssey invites you to climb Mapura, culminating at 1,191 meters, this summit offers a unique view of the Tuauru Valley and the peaks of Pihaiateta, Pito Hiti and Orohena. The path is very wild, humid, with many rope passages. Very little known, you are more likely to come across wild pigs or wild goats (if you are very discreet).
Full day:
- Departure between 4:00 and 6:00 am (depending on weather conditions).
- First part to the summit of Anuvea (see technical sheet here) - between 2h and 2h30 of hiking.
- Short coffee/tea break to enjoy the day rising on the EAST coast.
- Second part to the summit of Mapura - between 1h30 and 2h00 of hiking.
- Lunch break at the summit, of about 1 hour depending on the weather conditions.
- Descent to Anuvea, then to our starting point - allow the same hiking time as on the way up.
Ascent with Bivouac (1 night):
- Departure between 6:00 and 8:00 am (depending on weather conditions).
- First part to the summit of Anuvea (see technical sheet here) - between 2h and 3h00 of hiking.
- Short break to enjoy the view of the valleys and surrounding peaks.
- Second part to the summit of Mapura - between 2h and 2h30 of hiking.
- Installation of the camp/bivouac for a night under the stars!
- Descent the next day to Anuvea, then to our starting point - allow the same hiking time as on the way up.
