Description

 

Tahitian Odyssey invites you to follow the riverbed of the Tuauru Valley in the district of Mahina.

The name "Tua-uru" of this great valley comes from a legend that tells how a man metamorphosed into a breadfruit tree "Uru" to feed his family (read the legend here).

 

Full Day:

  • Departure between 7:00 and 8:00 am (depending on weather conditions).
  • The trail is rather clear and very frequented by hunters and farmers of the district.
  • Between 1.5 and 2 hours of hiking along the river where it is necessary to cross several fords (feet in the water) before reaching the site of the "Basalt Orgues."
  • Lunch break, swimming, and relaxation in this charming place.
  • Return in the late afternoon before the sun disappears behind the ridges overlooking the valley.

End of day > between 4:00 and 5:00 hours of walking.
